Military and First Responder Night – 2023

5/14/23 was Military & First Responder Appreciation Night at Ed Burke stadium.

We want to take a moment and thank all our military service men and women, first responders and their families both around the world and in attendance tonight. To the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, police departments, fire houses and paramedics, we are so appreciative and grateful for all that you do to keep us safe and protect here at home. We recognize that freedom isn’t free, and we want to recognize your sacrifices for us! We are the land of the free because of the brave.

Tonight, we recognize:

Chris Gage: Captain of Carmel Valley Station 24

Dave Rayfield: Engineer Carmel Valley Station 24

Travis McDevitt: Firefighter Carmel Valley Station 24

Jesse Lange: Firefighter Carmel Valley Station 24

John Wilson Sr.: 34-year fire captain who served both Station 24 and 47, and is father of TP alums Griffen ’21 and Johnny ’11.

Tom Levenberg: Served 32 years in the San Diego Police Department

Eric Prior: Served 21 years as a police officer and detective for the Carlsbad Police Department

Tim Wakefield: Served 36 years in the Los Angeles Fire Dept – TPHS alum and parent

Nico Marcolongo: Major in the US Marine Corp

Tom Darby: Served 27 years in the US Navy and currently serves in the US Navy reserves

Ian O’Connor: Captain of Fire Engine 263 in Rancho Santa Fe

Scott Young: Engineer of Fire Engine 263 in Rancho Santa Fe

Blaine Nelson: Firefighter/Paramedic for Fire Engine 263 in Rancho Santa Fe

Jeff Berg: Graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Former US Navy Submarine Officer

Dean Wakeham: Graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Lieutenant Commander Surface Warfare on board USS Chancellorsville

Andreas Falkiewicz: US Navy Chief Petty Officer and Former Seal Team 1 member

Brandon Roach: Graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Officer for SEAL Teams where he completed multiple deployments. Father of Ryland Roach and Christian Roach, members of the Torrey Pines Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team.

Ed Rohrbach: A 25-year veteran of the US Navy Seal Teams, Captain Rohrbach has completed numerous deployments around the world. Father of Taylor and Reese, members of the Torrey Pines Girls Lacrosse Team.
